Yes. You read that right. We’ve got a forever spot in our heart for the Water of Life. Its history is deep - tracing back to Mesopotamia perhaps, then meandering its way through Europe until making its presence undeniable in Ireland and Scotland, where grapes are not rampant. Join us as we pair five Whiskies - from Scotland, Israel, Japan, and, yes, the United States - with five expertly curated cheeses. Peaty, Smokey, Sea Salty, even Plummy - we’re gonna taste it all. Then we’ll compare, contrast, muse and ponder why these two fermented products are so magnificent. Meet the Brewers at The Green Growler

Our friends at The Green Growler, in Croton on Hudson, curate an enormous array of great beer, cider and mead (plus a wine or two for those oenophiles out there). Every now and again, they invite the Brewers themselves to discuss craft, taste, and terroir with guests. We’re fortunate enough to get a sample or two in advance so that we can pair beer and cheese perfectly for the crowd.

This week, Round Table Brewers will be at The Green Growler. Their beer is excellent! We know, because we carry a few of their offerings right here at our shop. Book your seat, learn a thing or two about their crafty suds, and enjoy an expertly culled cheese plate while you chill out with friends. How fantastic is that?

Cheese 206: Old World New World

We often think of Cheese as a European product. Especially when it comes to -special- cheese. But there’s a gross misconception there. In fact, the American artisanal cheese movement has been making waves for decades now. And we’re only just getting started. The Europeans have set the standard and have done so with magnificence. But when a few Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts, they started a revolutionary revelation. From British-style Cheddars to Cheez Product to World Cheese Awards “Best of Show,” American ingenuity proves astounding over and over again. Let’s gather and compare what we know, what we think we know, and what we’ve never experienced before in this in-depth, academically-rich class revolving around fermented milk and a series of eureka moments. Cheese, Adult Beverages and Instruction are all in the price of your ticket. Seats are limited and tables will be spaced comfortably apart.
